WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Bob Blenn works with professionals of all ages to determine the fundamental source of their professional discontent and then develop a path forward to improve the situation. This process doesn’t just look at your skills and experience—it’s holistic, as it takes into account your passions and sources of happiness inside and outside of the workplace.

You’ll have a plan to increase your professional fulfillment—whether you and Bob determine you should stay in your current situation or shift to a new career.

THE WORK/LIFE PURPOSE ALIGNMENT PROCESS

Bob developed this process over a long career in business sales and management. He too, underwent career transformations—positive and negative—and during this time he also helped others in those situations.

His process includes carefully chosen exploration tools, but that’s just part of the method. More important are Bob’s insight, experience, empathy, sensitivity, strategic questions and humor, as he guides each person along his or her discovery journey and past the self-limiting doubts and “stories” uncovered along the way.

The process is fluid and built around these sequential steps:

PHASE 1: DISCOVERING/UNCOVERING WHAT YOU’VE BECOME

Explore core values, passions, interests and the things that are holding you back from incorporating those into your vocation. Bob will help you dig deep to identify these realities that will help establish targets and goals to guide the career exploration.

PHASE 2: CLARIFYING YOUR PURPOSE

Identify the common elements from peak moments in your life (“purpose indicators”) and recall the aspects of your life and career that were truly rewarding. These often are buried deep, but Bob will help you find them so they can mark the path toward your more fulfilling career.

PHASE 3: BREAKING THROUGH BARRIERS

Uncover and explore the barriers you’ve constructed that might be preventing you from taking positive steps. Working with Bob, you’ll analyze those obstacles—the false “truths” that we tell ourselves and hear from others that we then embrace and internalize—to determine if they’re legitimate or not.

PHASE 4: CAREER ALIGNMENT STRATEGY

Identify arenas and situations that would support the purposes you identified. You and Bob will no doubt find multiple options, so this phase also involves research, prioritization and visualization work to narrow the list.

PHASE 5: CAREER ACTION PLAN

Develop a realistic roadmap to move you toward your goal. Bob will help you identify and organize the practical steps that will get you from A to B.

Then What?

This process has no predetermined outcomes. You may find you’re in the right career field, but in the wrong job or with the wrong company. And you may discover that you should seek a more fundamental change. In all these cases, you’ll have a clear plan of action to take the necessary steps.

You may even quickly find that your unhappiness stems primarily from outside your worklife and the solutions lie elsewhere. In this case, Bob will steer you toward other people and resources to help you on that journey.

This process requires hard work and a commitment. You’ll meet with Bob twice a month for at least six months for several hours. You’ll be responsible for homework and exercises between meetings so you and he can make the best use of the meeting time.

If you’re willing to do the work and trust the process, you’ll have a path toward a more fulfilling work environment. You’ll have practical steps to guide you. You’ll feel empowered to pursue the change.
